A Programme To Develop Emotional Intelligence In A School Through A Curriculum Approach

Some pre-amble here about the course. Enrolment etc

4 Days of Intense and detailed training.

Teaching emotions requires skilled facilitators, they require totally different competencies to everyday subjects. The chosen Facilitators will need time to reflect on their own feelings, attitudes and approaches in order to feel confident in the delivery, therefore special care must be taken in their selection.

The course will give the chosen Facilitators, a chance to reflect and consider their role as facilitator. It is therefore a hands-on programme, which will leave facilitators feeling that they have had a chance to digest, mentally apply and discuss the whole programme in their training rooms. We encourage every organisation to send a minimum of two members of staff so that they can discuss, plan and feed back together. This is essential as the training in EQ does require teaching strategies that are different to the norm that their grasp of the techniques is at the highest level There will be ongoing support from LEARNING PAGES to ensure that the approach facilitators have opportunities to discuss, review and evaluate the lessons and the progress that is being made. LEARNING PAGES will visit organisations and maintain contact with all facilitators for 12 month period.

Facilitators will have the opportunity to gain accreditation for their role as soon as the accreditation process is complete.

LEARNING Page's web site will have a chat room for facilitators from various organisations to discuss, evaluate and review approaches.

Each facilitator will receive the following materials

1) A comprehensive Facilitator 200 page Manual outlining Background to Emotional Intelligence- theory and practice Techniques for teaching emotional Intelligence with explanation and actual examples provided.

Managing with Emotional Intelligence.

A 5 day Course

Emotional Intelligence?
It can simply be described as our ability to know ourselves, control our feelings and summon when required, high levels of persistence and self-motivation, to be sensitive to the feelings of others and be able to empathise with them. It embodies that frequently used characteristic of character.

It forms the basis of our own self-esteem and lies at the very root of our learning and of life itself. It has now been recognised that EQ is more important than IQ; as the workplace becomes more sophisticated, what people know is just as important as what they do, emotional intelligence is clearly part of that knowledge, for it is the power base that all Organizations depend upon for their success.

Each person will be videotaped to measure his or her reaction rates.

2.             Non - Verbal Communication.
Each delegate is shown how to read and interpret with far greater accuracy the process of non-verbal communication.  It will enable people to better understand the feelings of others, without having to be totally dependant upon words and there limited scope when used to describe people’s innermost thoughts and emotions.

3.             Team Building.
This workshop will create a realistic laboratory environment in which delegates will attempt to apply Emotional Intelligence into the building of Self-Managed Teams.
Each Manager will go through the process in turn, with the remaining delegates acting as members of the team.
